LOMBOK
Lombok is a large island just east of Bali and a forty-minute flight from Denpasar.
Lombok is known for its beautiful beaches, snorkelling, surfing and trekking to volcanic peaks and waterfalls. Lombok is dotted with rice terraces and forests and is considered more laid-back and less commercialised than Bali. It is probably more like Bali was several decades ago.
The best time to visit Lombok is May to October. It is a tropical island with a wet season running from November to March. Temperatures don’t vary much (from low 20s to low 30s).
“Gili” means “small island”. Lombok features around 20 small islands, the best known being the Gili Islands. The main Gili Islands lie a short distance off the north-west coast of Lombok. Public ferries and private Fast boats service the Gilis from Bangsal Harbour, around 25km north of Senggigi.
Gili Trawangan or ‘Gili T’ is known as the party island. Gili Air is quieter and has endless beaches.. Gili Meno is the more traditional of the three and features coral reefs and rural villages.

Fly direct from Perth in a bit under 4 hours. Lombok is located in Mangsit, just north of Senggigi, on the beach. November is the quiet season with temperatures in the low 30s. Sunny weather punctuated with the odd tropical downpour that soon clears to more sunshine. Balmy evenings feature wonderful sunsets. The Gili islands sit just offshore to the north – a 15-minute taxi ride to Bangsal harbour and then a 10 -20 minute boat ride. Worth a visit!
The resort driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the resort – a one hour trip. The staff are lovely, the gardens amazing! Bursts of colour everywhere. It is a small resort of about 2 dozen rooms. Very quiet and peaceful. A beautiful place.
